Diversionary Process for Admitted Academic Misconduct
The academic misconduct regulation includes a Diversionary Process option to resolve incidents of admitted academic misconduct through a voluntary agreement (“Integrity Plan”) between Dean’s Offices and students (Vancouver and Okanagan).
An Integrity Plan includes a description of the incident and agreed-upon outcomes to respond to the misconduct. Examples of outcomes that may be included in an Integrity Plan are provided in the Academic Calendar (Vancouver and Okanagan).
The Diversionary Process aims to create a streamlined response for appropriate instances of admitted academic misconduct while also enriching educative approaches to academic misconduct cases. The Diversionary Process removes or diverts these matters from being addressed by the President’s Advisory Committee on Student Discipline (PACSD) and potential discipline imposed by the President. Diversionary Process at UBC Vancouver
At UBC Vancouver, the Diversionary Process is supported centrally through the Academic Integrity Hub in the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic. The Academic Integrity Hub is a third-party and neutral space that supports students and Faculties through the Diversionary Process and the facilitation of Integrity Plans. It provides an opportunity to strengthen academic integrity education both in response to academic misconduct and proactively.
Academic Integrity at UBC Okanagan
At UBC Okanagan, academic integrity is supported centrally by the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic, the Student Learning Hub, and the Centre for Teaching and Learning. These units work collaboratively to facilitate an educative approach to academic integrity, support faculty and students in navigating academic misconduct policy and procedures, and engage with academic integrity issues across the campus.
