University of British Columbia – Vancouver campus (in-person)

The Canadian Symposium on Academic Integrity 2027 takes place at a pivotal moment for academic integrity. Following a global pandemic, with its temporary pivot to online learning and assessments, and the arrival of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), the teaching and learning landscape is evolving. Our experiences with and understanding of academic integrity are being actively informed and shaped by the impact of these changes.

We are in a moment when change is constant, and we are continuously prompted to imagine and plan for what comes next. This is the time to pause and reflect: where do we find ourselves now? At this moment in time, what is the state of the academic integrity field? What are the most pressing issues, questions and opportunities? Beyond the now, what can we learn from the past, and how are we preparing for the future? Such questions will be central to the theme of this year’s Symposium: Academic Integrity Now.

The Symposium seeks to bring together the academic integrity community to reflect on our current moment in time and state of affairs. What practices, policies and approaches are being explored by institutions and practitioners? How are academic integrity communities working to inspire hope, action, and grounding during disruptions and challenges? How can we emphasize wellbeing in a time of complexity and change? This focus on the now allows us to take account of how far the field has come and all the places it could still go.

We invite presentations on this theme, as well as on all topics relating to academic integrity more broadly including:

  • Current research on academic integrity
  • Practitioner experiences and approaches
  • Institutional approaches and priorities
  • Academic integrity and wellbeing (care, compassion, hope)
  • Academic integrity and GenAI tools
